DRUGSCENE specialises in illegal drugs. We provide expert advice about drugs for businesses and organisations who want to improve the health and safety of their staff. We design customised training packages and deliver fact-based drug education using harm reduction principles. We're committed to delivering high quality training and professional service.

My name is Cam Stokes. I'm the director of DRUGSCENE. I was in the Police for 18 years (1985 to 2003) including 12 years in the Criminal Investigation Branch. I worked at Henderson, Auckland Central and Otahuhu on a variety of squads including the Auckland Drug Squad, the Organised Crime Unit and the Criminal Intelligence Section. My last position was Detective Sergeant in Charge of the Motorcycle Gang Unit.

I'm an expert in the field of illegal drugs and have wide ranging practical experience. I've given expert evidence about controlled drugs since 1994. My experience with methamphetamine ranges from the investigation of offences (including manufacturing and selling "meth") to operating informants in the drug scene. I've had many dealings with people involved in meth, from casual users to major dealers and "cooks".

I wrote a novel called The Devils Are Here, about a New Zealand motorcycle gang, which was published in September 2008. It depicts the harm caused by methamphetamine and I hope it sends out a strong anti-gang, anti-methamphetamine message. Visit www.gangscene.co.nz for more information.
